  • IT'S ABOUT TIME

Yup, we've finally added time zone controls to everyone's Xanga Sites (both premium and classic sites). All of your posts and comments on your site (basically, everything that is publicly viewable on your site) can now be set to appear in your own local time zone.

    Setting Your Time Zone

To set your time zone, just sign into your Xanga Site and click the little "Account info" link in that first box on the left. On your "Basic Account Info" page, you'll see a pull-down menu with all the world's time zones. Just choose your time zone and click "Save Changes".

If you live in a time zone that uses daylight savings, just check the box and we'll "automatically adjust for daylight saving changes" for you!

    Your New "Account Info" Pages

When you go to set your own time zone, some of you (the particularly observant among you ) will note that we've also updated all of your "Account Info" pages. We've tried to make it a little clearer how to use these pages to:

    • Change the email and password on your Xanga account
    • Manage your Xanga Premium account (or upgrade to Xanga Premium if you don't have it already )
    • Find your Xanga Site Address, get a custom site address ("Personal URL"), or manage any Personal URLs you may already have.

We've also updated all of these Account Info pages to use the new (faster, more efficient, more reliable) code that we hope to have running all of Xanga by the end of this year.

Future Plans for Your Time Zone Settings

Your time zone settings currently impact almost all of the publicly viewable areas of your Xanga Site. For now, though, some of your private pages continue to use Eastern Standard Time (Xanga HQ ). Eventually, we'd like to integrate the new custom time zone controls into more of the private areas of your Xanga Sites, such as your subscriptions ("Sites I Read") page, "my comments" page, and private "feedback" pages. We'll be sure to announce any of these updates as soon as we launch them.
