ARE THERE ANY OTHER WAYS TO PAY FOR PREMIUM?

I've been getting a lot of emails asking if there are any other ways to pay for premium. Thanks for asking ... the answer is yes.

Checks & Money Orders (Available Now!)

Heh, we've actually always accepted checks and money orders (or bank checks or other types of certified checks) from anyone who asked us specifically about them. But I've never posted about this option because, as you all know, we're really busy over here. Credit cards are just so much easier to process... so I hesitated to advertise our check payment option until we had a good system in place for processing checks - now we do!

So here's the deal, if you'd like to pay by personal check (U.S. only please) or any kind of certified check (from anywhere on earth ):
1. Please make it out to Xanga.com, Inc. and mail it to:

  Attn: Marc
  555 8th Avenue, Suite 21F
  New York, NY 10018
2. Remember to include the username of the account you want to upgrade (you can use checks to gift premium to other members, too) and the number of months of premium that you are buying (in case you send the check during a special pricing promotion, but I receive it after the promotion ends - I want to make sure you get the special pricing ).
3. Finally, remember to include the email address to which you'd like me to send your receipt!

Dan's looking into it right now. But we're having a little trouble figuring out how to prioritize this one. So I have a simple question to help us prioritize: how many of you are waiting for a PayPal payment option to buy premium? (Please leave a comment on this post to let me know if you're interested. If we get a lot of interest, obviously we'll get Dan to put this one first on his list!)

Shorter Payment Plans (Coming Soon?)

Right now the shortest premium plan is six months. But a few of you have asked about an even shorter (monthly) payment option... To be honest I'm a little surprised that six months feels like too long of a Xanga committment for you , but since a few of you have asked, I thought I'd open it up for discussion.

So another simple question to help us decide: how many of you would buy Premium if we offered a monthly plan (you could decide on a month-to-month basis if you wanted to stick with premium) for somewhere just under $3 per month? Or how about two months for just under $6? (Again, please leave a comment on this post to let me know if you're interested.)

Other Suggestions?

I'd say you couldn't be more accomodating! Thank you for thinking of us students who can't have Credit cards & have to rely on "dear old dads", hehe

Mah ha! : - ), see being the last one to upgrade their site I think I'm going to have to say.... YAY! lol. Ok not very mature that now was it? But I was just getting tired of that damn "We need 1 more person to upgrade thing"... so I upgraded two names . As for paying by other means, it would of been very useful. The only thing I would say however is that being in the UK, I don't have a dollar account so I can't send you a check in U.S. dollars, you lose money paying checks for pounds into your account but I personally would still appreciate you supporting the idea, even for extra. I.E. $25, but also £25 (that should be enough compensation for it right? Decrease the amount a little when the promotion is over). Anyway, time for bed. Thanks for your brilliant work guys -Ben

i think it's all great... you're more than accomodating everyone. paypal is a wonderful idea for adding onto existing accounts, could even have an "auto-payment" plan for renewing premium. you might have something for additional options, like having premium bronze, silver, gold, platinum, etc. with additional options (not sure what, but i'm sure you'll think of something).

i already have it, and i don't think i've really tapped into it yet. i like sean's idea too though... especially because he has more than enough to share.

Wonderful. You guys are working hard. Thank You. I think that all of the options are great. I prefer credit card, but I know there are people out there that dont have them. Is there a way to pay by check over the phone?

A good option i think.. would be maybe somehow getting it added to the persons phone bill. Thats what some companys do.

month by month, or every two months would be good for xangans (if much, much more work for you guys--administrative shtuff), it would lower the threshold (I subscribed and I know, people have an aversion to buying online content, even/especially? when they're the creators of that content...)

I would have preferred to pay by Paypal, and I will probably prefer to use it to renew than have my credit card tapped.

Its about TIME! lol

Thankz! Now I can use my skins that i so PAINSTAKNINGLY made just to learn that I couldn't use them unless I had premium! Some of us just aren't BRAVE enough to get a credit card... or smart enough NOT to?

Thank you very much! I may yet upgrade another site in the very near future now. I really like the idea of the check or moneyorder. However I also like someones idea above of putting it on our phone bill. Shoot our phone company charges me for crap I don't have all the time. Charging for something I do have and enjoy would be a good thing.

Now this possibly gives me a chance to pay for Premium! I just wonder if placing cash in an envelope would be a good way to do it, it's just about the only thing I can do since my bank account is untouchable by me until I'm 18.

I think the monthly option is a good idea. There are too many people with too many bills already. It's amazing what a difference it will make not having to pay the 6 month or 12 month in advance for these people. Especially for those that use the Internet to escape so many problems and stresses that are more than most of us can handle.

You guys are great! I've wanted premium since I first got my weblog back in November, and since you needed the server and all, I figured that it was a good time to upgrade. But really, you are all doing such a great job... people really do appreciate it (well, I do, anyway)!

Awww... I was wishing that all who blog EVERY DAY could pay for it with their commitment of doing it every day (I know it would keep me busy if that was an option! LOL )
