  • XANGA PHOTOS - UPDATE

    Sorry everyone... it looks like there are a few lingering issues with the new photo system:

    • Uploads not working in Firefox - I use Firefox myself [Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20041001 Firefox/0.10.1] and I haven't been able to reproduce the upload problems that some of you are reporting ...

      If you use Firefox and you're having trouble uploading pictures, please let us know the OS you are using, the version of Firefox you are using (click Help >> About Mozilla Firefox in your browser to find that info), and what exactly happens when you try to upload your picture. Also, if the upload doesn't seem to work, does your picture appear in your Picture File Manager, or does it really not upload at all?

    • Upload window just goes blank - I've seen a few mentions of a bug where the little "Add Pic" window just goes blank and *stays open* after you click to upload your photo. We actually encountered this bug during testing and fixed it. But it seems to have reared its ugly head again for some combinations of operating sytems and browsers. If you are getting this bug, please let me know the exact operating sytem and browser that you are using.

    • Uploaded pic not appearing in xTools - this one may be related to the Firefox issue mentioned above (?), but we've also seen some reports that uploaded pics don't immediately appear in the xtools window. If you submit the post you will see the picture on your site, and if you then click to edit your post you will see the picture in your xtools window. But it doesn't appear in xtools right away, after you first click to upload the pic. If you are seeing this bug, please let me know your OS and browser and whether it tends to happen more often at any specific time of day.

    Sorry again to anyone who's getting these frustrating bugs - we're trying to track them down so we can squash all of them, and any additional info you could give about these bugs would really help!

    I actually am now having better luck with my uploads and Firefox. It used to be that I would load them and they wouldn't be clickable when I posted them. With my last post I found that they are clickable so I don't have to IE to take advantage of that function now.

    I'm glad that the bugs are getting squashed. I am still, however, uploading my photos elsewhere and using the img src tag. To use Xanga's photo system is too much of a pain.

    For many others, this system is an improvement.

    I'm using XP Home with Firefox 1.0.2 and uploaded a picture or two in the last week with no problems. It appeared in my xTools box, in my post, and in my picture manager. I will say, however, that picture uploading is still rather clunky in general - still slow, but with far fewer bugs than before at least.

    Actually, the uploads go fine now. It's the editing of the box that's now buggered [can't delete/backspace anything, even in EditHTML] so I'm still using IE for Xanga.

    I still would like [no, demand, since I'm a paying customer] a "turn off resizing" option.

    I upload pictures that are like 60k and they appear as a little red x in my xtools window. They are JPEG files, the same ones I always uploaded fine in the old photo program, and now they are not working. I don't use xanga skins, i specifically bought premium for uploading photos and now I have been having to link from comcast because only half the pictures i upload actually work. I don't understand why. I use Internet Explorer and I update my windows all the time so I have the latest verison. I gave up on firefox because it never works properly and makes xanga sites look weird.

    I am one of those "Just goes blank" kids. I am using Eindows XP with Microsoft Internet Explorer. And yeah, I click on the pick, hit submit, and the screen goes blank and stays that way. Nothing else happens. Can you help?

    I can upload the pictures, but after I click submit, the window turns blank. The bottom left corner of the window will say done, but then the blank window doesn't disappear and the picture doesn't appear on my entry.

    eventually you'll wind up fixing it because it can't be one of those "impossible" things...
    bugs are bugs...you'll get to fixing besides at least it's not BIG like all browsers just certains =)

    another thing with photos...

    my photos and several of my friends photos after putting them on have turned white and said "image not available--questionable content". they were pictures from london and were most certainly not questionable. i was just wondering if you guys were filtering photos or it was the server i was uploading from (mypicgallery) and nothing to do with you.

    I am on Windows XP, Aol, on a dell computer, I am not doing it though internet explorer(although now I am going to try that)...I am computer dumb in many respects so...dont know what info you need. I have the "blank" thing going on...it acts like it is uploading the pic and then just does nothing. It is still happening...thanks for getting back to me. Peace.

    Help! I thought at first it was my computer and I almost took it in to be fixed.

    I use windows xp not sure of anything else. I tried to upload a picture from a remote site and all I get is the red x. in properties it is now under your name, your url. maybe it will work later. I will leave it as it is and see if it will load on its own in time. wow this is a mess and I have premium

    It's blogger111 again. I have found a way to get pictures up...using the "address" of the pic and putting it like it came from somewhere else...seemed to work-but it is still not coming directly from my computer. I have a suspiction that it may be AOL that is causing this...I remember something a while ago about not being to upload certain pictures from certain places...(sorry so vauge) but anyway...at least for now it seems I can put up pics...Peace

    I used the "from a remote site" to get that pic up. I just went to try it again and it does not work unless I am on Internet Explorer. If I am just doing what I would "normally" do-all is still not kosher...tnx peace.

    Okay. Now it isn't even working off Internet Explorer...don't know why I got to get one on there and now it won't let me put up a pic for today? Hope you guys figure it out soon. Thanks. Peace

    Windows xp,aol,dell puter.I get blank screen also.Will not upload any images gif,jpeg etc.I use microsoft picture it 7.0 to edit if that would make a diff.Sigh this is so frustrating..............

    I actually just have a quick question, One that you probably get on a daily basis.

    I am just thinking about signing up for Xanga Premium, You guys I think are

    Worth the extra money each week. But will I get on Xanga Featured? - On the home page if I sign up for Xanga Premium? Or can just anyone get on it. I'm just thinking about what would make me more comfortable .... lol...
