  • What's the matter?

    • $15 just too much to dish out at one time?
    • Afraid of a little six-month commitment?
    • But you still want Xanga Premium?

Have no fear! Monthly Premium is here!

We're trying a new Premium Option that lets you get one month at a time for just 4 bucks. Lower cost, shorter commitment, same Premium.

    Why?

As always, we did it because a lot of you asked for it.

Frankly, if you know you're going to stick around for a while, then you'll save money with the longer service plans. But you all cited two reasons for wanting the shorter plan option:

    1. It's a nice option to have for Gifting Premium to other Xanga members - so that you can give Premium to more of your friends for the same money.

    2. By some mystical (primitive? ) rationale, a $4 charge per month can be a lot easier to stomach than a higher charge for more months (even though the actual cost per month may be lower for the longer plans).

Anyway, it is not for me to discuss the psychological intricacies of buying stuff (though, feel free to discuss in the comments below). I am here to serve - you asked for a monthly premium option, and now you've got it . We'll see how it goes for the next few weeks and then decide what to do with the option. Please let us know if you like it, and if you think we should keep it. Thanks!

xP i STILL don't have a credit card or a bank account [[ which pretty much rules out credit card, paypal, or personaly checks ]] .. isn't there another way to pay for premiummmm??
  • FoReVa_DrEaMiN
whoops.. i just remembered about the money order.. nevermind

well, since $$$ is tight these days, i am whole-heartedly for a monthly option...i can definitely afford the $4/mo, and would welcome the opportunity to pay for my premium services that way...plus, i have over 10 blogs, and would like to be able to have premium on more than one! so, the monthly option would be of benefit there as well...i think the idea is faboo...hope you keep it around!!

Well, that still doesn't change the fact that I don't have a credit card. Or spending money. Or a job. But oh well. I can dream, can't I? And I can't ask my parents because I don't want them reading this. Mwahaha! Shhhhhh!:)

    But, nice job as always.

That's thoughtful of you.  I, myself, want my premium for a while.  How do you plan to keep the monthly people posted as to when their dues are up?  People do, and will, forget when payment is due.  But, that sounds like a lot more work for you guys - keeping track of all that on a monthly basis.

Personally, I like the yearly option because then I don't have to worry about it. *shrug* Different strokes for different folks.

    Heh.

    Heh-heh.

    Heh.

    You'll never satisfy me.

    Heh.

I think the monthly option is beyond cool. I think it is fantastic. I will continue to do either six or twelve month on namaste.

    But...

3 bucks a month seems to make more sense to me. The price point seems to make more sense. And, when doing the math, people may be more willing to do the monthly thing.

"Eh. I pay for 7 months compared to 6, but I'm okay with that, as it doesn't all come out at once."

    compared to

"Excuse me? Y'all want me to pay how much more for the convenience of monthly charges? Screw it. I'll stay non-premium."

But, I do love the idea of monthly premium and I'll be far more willing to do some (more) gifty premium in the future because of this.

    Once again, great work.

Now, drop the price a buck. Heh.

    yeah namaste, you're right.

the problem is, each transaction costs a certain amount of money to process at all.  so if someone buys a six-month dealio, that transaction fee is spread across six months.  with monthly subscriptions, it happens every month - eating up the premium money!

so at three bucks, it's almost not worth it for us to offer premium at all .

If there was a way to pay for premium with a money order, I would buy premium.  Until then I have no means of buying premium.

The short commitment fee is tempting but for us across the border and overseas it's just not worth the bucks esp'ly factoring in the exchg rate.  Nice try but no cigar Marc but great intro might I add.

Mmm, maybe I should consider getting a job before worrying about what type of Premium plan I want .

Hmm... What if I got the one month thing... as a trial.. and then wanted to keep it.. and just paid another $11.. or maybe another $12 for another 5 months? (the extra dollar being for the processing fee of course )
