  • Xangazon Modules! Got a Feature Request?

    In our spare time (haha), we've finally started working on a module version of Xangazon (so you can put your currently reading, watching, playing selections into a little side module on your site, rather than inside of weblog entries). Now's your chance to throw some ideas our way, to make sure the modules come standard with the features you really want . So please let me know:

    • What kinds of layout options would you like to see (e.g with images, without images, with or without descriptive text from amazon)?

    • How many Currently Reading/Watching/Playing items would you like to be able to display simultaneously (if you're showing more than one selection, should they all go into the same big module or into separate modules)?

    • What other module customization features would you like (e.g. ability to add your own little blurb about each selection)?

    How about the ability to write a mini-review that would be automatically posted to the user's reviews section and linked to from the "now playing" blurb?

    Also - take a look at this page - see how the review is shuffled off to the right? Can you wrap the blog entry and xangazon blurb in separate tables to prevent that from happening?

    Finally - I'm getting zero satisfaction out of this feature because, as with many premium features, it only works (or only works well) in Internet Explorer. Where's the love??

    My 2 cents: I would prefer them without images, without Amazon's description, up to three at a time, and I like the option to add our own commentary about each selection.

    I would say, make it so that you can have three of the "currently"s... one for each of the selections. Currently playing/reading/watching.

    I would also say make it so that it works. Grrr.... Every time I put a currently playing on my site, all my posts go away.

    Now, I understand most of the issues are because of my crappy html on my site, but I am still frustrated. Okay, frustrated with myself, not you... Fix my problems for me, dammit!

    i say with images...(or at least the option to have them) and one thing that would be really nice is to be able to change the "currently playing" text...so that i could make it say "i wish i were listening to" or whatever i wanted it to say...that would be a marvelous idea.....

    Changing the text, adding comments, all sound like good additions.  I rarely use the feature now as it is, but perhaps I'd use it more if I could add my 2 1/2 cents to the mix!  Thanks for all you do!

    I'd like to agree with seanmeister; not all of us are even able to use this feature effectively anyway. What I'd like to see is more support for all of us supporting xanga.

    Other than that entirely reasonable gripe, why not simply make the module like the Amazon Lists and give people the opportunity to add as little or as much as they like....? You could call them Xanglists.

    Well you could if you wanted but you'd probably be too busy regretting not calling your baby Zimba and then being able to call them Zimbalists....

    Yeah, I really like the idea of being able to do commentaries or short reviews (or long reviews, I love my review section!)  I really like the currently playing thing too though, because I listed what I was listening to before, and now I get a neato picture.  I like xangazon a lot.  I think it would be really cool (as I commented on Dan's site) that somehow one could get to user reviews from the xangazon top 50 lists or having xangazon connected to the review sections.

    Thanks for all your hard work!  Xanga rocks.

    I like all these ideas;it's cool that you're always working to improve things like "current listen/watch/read" etc.

    I agree with seanmiester.  I like the idea of adding a review and having it show up in the review section.  That way you can encourage people to use that function more.  I like the side module idea-but will it work with our skins?

    I noticed that after inserting one xangazon item to my entry i cannot enter any others. :( I hope in the future I will be able to do so.

    mmmm n ot for side modules, but if premium had OOOOOOOODLES of fonts built in, i would probably get it.

    I LOVE the idea of this feature! HOWEVER, I am wondering if it is available for non premium members.. I thought it was?? Also posted here I noticed that the Reviews thing is ....I guess being taken away?? WHY???? I want the Rieview thing on my side bar!!! I have about 4 or 5 Reviews and since this has happened no one has read them PLEASE PUT IT BACK ON THE LEFT SIDE MODULE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks

    1. at least 3 xangazon selections please! (for each one: watching, reading, listening)
    2. option to add a brief review for each
    3. option to replace Amazon's text with your own
